    Shawn E. Griffin, LPC

    Shawn Griffin graduated from the University of Nebraska with his Bachelor's in Psychology and later his Master's in Community Counseling.  He moved to Colorado in 1999.  He has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado since 1999 and has over 17 years of experience in the fields of mental health and substance abuse. 

    His experience includes work in residential, hospital, and outpatient settings.  In his private practice, he works with adults and couples, with expertise in depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorders, trauma using EMDR (2nd Level Clinician), and couples counseling. 

    In addition to this clinical work, he has been co-owner and Clinical Director of Running Creek Counseling since 2000.  The agency provides court ordered and volunteer treatment groups for adolescents and adults with DUI/DWAI's, substance abuse, domestic violence and anger management issues.  Individual and family counseling is also available with one of the five counselors on staff.


    Sylvia Moore, MSC

    Sylvia Moore received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1978 from Central Michigan University. She married in 1979. Sylvia was blessed with two children; as they grew she found herself increasingly involved in school committees, both at the school level as well as the District level. She chaired several accountability committees for her kids schools and for the District. When her children went off to pursue their own lives she decided it was time to follow her dream to become a psychotherapist. She completed a Masters Degree in Counseling at the University of Phoenix in 2008. Sylvia's clinical career started with a practicum at the Griffith Center in Larkspur, working with adolescent sex offenders. Next she honed her group work skills at Running Creek by facilitating and co-facilitating Domestic Violence Groups, Level II education (DUI) and Therapy Groups, as well as Substance Abuse and Parenting Groups. Sylvia has all the training and clinical experience to be a Domestic Violence Treatment Providers. She is awaiting formal approval of her Domestic Violence Certification from the Domestic Violence Offender Management Board.

    Sylvia's areas of interest and treatment, not already listed, include Grief Counseling, Adolescent life issues, Adolescent Substance Abuse, Anxiety, Stress Management, Life Changes and Self Concept. Sylvia is very passionate about working with adolescents and their parents both individually and as families.


    Michael Lyons, MA

    Mike Lyons graduated from Colorado State University in 2002 with a degree in Liberal Arts. Throughout his undergraduate studies, Mike became interested in psychology and debated switching majors, only to find out it was too late. After graduating, Mike worked at the Adolescent and Family Institute of Colorado in Wheatridge as a Resident Supervisor/ Mentor to at-risk youth with mental health and substance abuse issues. It was here that Mike was exposed to different therapeutic approaches and techniques, which helped him to realize that he wanted to pursue a career as a Therapist.

    Mike graduated from Regis University with a Master's degree in Community Counseling. While in graduate school, Mike completed his practicum and internship requirements with the Jefferson Center for Mental Health, working at the Mount View Adolescent Detention Center as a Mental Health Clinician. Mike is experienced in individual, family, and group therapy

    Mike is currently working towards his requirements to become a licensed counselor in Colorado for mental health and substance abuse. Mike's areas of interest include working with adolescents, adults, children and families. Mike has experience working with substance abuse-related issues and disorders, stress management, anxiety, depression and other mental health issues.


    Alana Rumley, BS, CACIII

    Alana graduated from Governor's State University in Illinois with a Bachelor Degree specializing in alcohol and drug addiction counseling in 1984. Alana's 28 years of experience include working with schools, families, children and teenagers in the areas of: DUI education and therapy, alcohol/drug abuse and dependency, anger management, incest and sexual abuse counseling, grief counseling, marriage and relationship counseling and parenting.

    Alana has 17 years of experience in adoption and foster care. In addition, she has experience working with families experiencing infertility issues and with birth families making a decision to parent or place their child for adoption.

    Alana is a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC III) in Colorado. She is also in the process of becoming certified to work with domestic violence offenders.
